Truly a work of art, this coin struck in one ounce of highly pure 99.9% fine silver features a colorized reproduction of The Death of General Warren at the Battle of Bunker’s Hill, June 17, 1775 painted by American artist John Trumbull in 1786. What’s more, it’s the second release in a Revolutionary War series from Cameroon called “From 13 Colonies to One Nation,” and is it ever spectacular!
The coin’s reverse shows Trumbull’s famous painting of the chaotic scene shortly after the Redcoats had stormed the redoubt atop Bunker Hill during the early fighting in the Siege of Boston. The long, protracted siege lasted from April 19, 1775 to March 17, 1776. The Battle of Bunker Hill was the first major battle of the Revolutionary War, occurring two months after the opening battles at Lexington and Concord. Though a British victory, it came at a bloody cost and discouraged the British from attempting another assault, allowing the newly formed Continental Army to maintain the Siege of Boston.
This beautiful proof pays tribute to “The Siege of Boston,” and features 10 brilliant Swarovski square-shaped crystal inserts—five above the design and five below it. What’s more, the diameter of this 2,000 Francs Cameroon legal-tender coin is an unusual 65 mm, a massive size that’s more than 2.5 inches in diameter, thus enabling you to clearly see the beautiful, colorized design.
